Oil Inukshuk Painting on Board

Oil Inukshuk painting on board, signed “Kirby” lower right, which could be attributed to Ken Kirby, depicts the striking silhouette of an inukshuk set against the vivid drama of a northern sunset. The inukshuk stands firmly on a hilltop, its distinctive stacked form rendered in deep black, sharply contrasted against the glowing sky. The horizon burns with rich crimson and fiery orange tones, fading upward into deep purples and cool midnight blues, capturing the fleeting, luminous moments of dusk in the Arctic. The smooth gradations of the sky evoke both stillness and vastness, while the minimalistic, almost graphic rendering of the foreground emphasizes the monument’s symbolic presence. Iconic!
