Antique Oil on Board Painting of Mother and Child
$150
One of a kind: there is only one.
Antique oil painting housed in a gilt frame, depicting an intimate portrait of a mother and child, sheltered together beneath a large draped shawl. The composition centers on their close physical connection: the child sits forward with one arm lifting the fabric, while the older figure sits slightly behind, enveloping them both in a protective gesture. The work has a gentle, devotional quality, with soft facial modeling, warm earth tones, and a muted outdoor background. Their bare feet and seated posture add a humble, pastoral feeling.
Stylistically, the painting appears folk-influenced, with simplified anatomy, and a tender emotional clarity. A lovely image of care and shelter..
