“Study After Millet’s Woman with a Rake” - Hand-Painted Oil Copy
$120
One of a kind: there is only one.
A textured, hand-painted oil copy after Jean-François Millet’s celebrated Barbizon School painting Woman with a Rake (c. 1856–57, Metropolitan Museum of Art). The composition faithfully captures Millet’s quiet, dignified treatment of rural labor: a peasant woman in a red kerchief and dark skirt stands leaning on a long-handled tool at the edge of a golden field, with wheat sheaves and a wooded tree line in the background. Thick, expressive impasto in the sky and grasses gives the piece real tactile presence.
Signed lower right, this is an artist’s study/reproduction, not an original work by Millet.
